Art
In art, we open the world to our students. Our students from Years 7 through 9 through following the Kapow scheme of learning to enable pupils to explore different techniques in different mediums. They will contribute to discussions and not be afraid to ask why. They will listen and immerse themselves in other opinions, whilst understanding and believing in their own. They will find the freedom and individuality that art offers and enjoy the calming space it provides.

Our science curriculum, tailored for SEND students, aims to build a strong foundation in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics from Years 7 through 9 through following the Kapow scheme of learning. Incorporating hands-on activities, inquiry-based learning, and real-world applications, our curriculum caters to unique learning needs and develops critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. As students’ progress they can make informed choices about further education or careers.

Humanities
Humanities
Humanities (History, Geography) are subjects in which students develop knowledge of a diverse world, develop a cultural and historical awareness and become conscious of the challenges the world faces. Our curriculum follows the Kapow curriculum that enable students to develop an investigative knowledge and skills that are also transferrable to other curriculum areas.

Maths
Maths
Our mathematics curriculum is designed to develop students’ reasoning, logical thinking, resilience and independent problem solving. We aim not only to develop the knowledge and skills required for school but also to instil an appreciation of the role played by mathematics in life and the world of work e.g. shopping, budgeting, the building trade and technology.
Our teaching programme follows the White Rose Scheme designed to build confidence by using step-by-step methods and by revisiting topics regularly to consolidate understanding and to improve memory.
Qualifications

Physical Education
Physical Education
Physical Education is essential for not only gaining the necessary skills and knowledge to participate in life long physical activity but also for developing the personal skills required to be become well rounded, productive citizens. Many of our students can find skills, such as communication, respect, teamwork, focus, confidence, discipline and resilience, significantly challenging, so nurturing these skills is at the heart of the curriculum. Students will develop their understanding and appreciation of the impact that sport and physical education can have on social, emotional and mental well-being as well as physical health and fitness. Students will also gain a deeper understanding of the way their body moves and feels, and acquire the skills to move more competently and confidently. When students leave they will have developed an understanding and appreciation of the importance of exercise, the essential social and physical skills, as well as the will and interest required to engage in lifelong sport and physical activity. Most importantly, students will leave prepared for employment and further education, and equipped with the personal skills to build healthy and respectful relationships and make valuable contributions within society.

Food Technology
Food Technology
Food technology is an essential subject for any student because they gain cooking as an essential life skill. As well as understanding of personal hygiene and a
knowledge of different beliefs and cultures surrounding foods. Students will be exposed to contemporary issues around food and a working knowledge of nutrition and how it contributes to a person’s health and wellbeing. Students are inspired and challenged to imagine and create a range of dishes by being exposed to a variety of cultural and celebratory dishes.Students will develop their culinary skills and their critical thinking skills to develop their own recipes and menus for a varied audience. Food technology develops student’s literacy, numeracy, communication and emotional literacy skills as students embark on teamwork in a kitchen. These skills are key to further education, in working life and living, fulfilling and healthy lifestyles. We offer a Level 1 and Level 2 NCFE qualification in food and cookery skills, and the Level 2 qualification is similar to a GCSE grade 4-9 depending on the final grade allocated. This course can begin a student’s career in catering or offers transferrable skills to other areas of work such as business and management.

Personal Development
Personal Development
Personal Development is the single most important subject as it will help pupils develop the knowledge, skills, values and confidence they will need to keep themselves safe and healthy, and lead rich and fulfilling lives as part of modern society.
Students will develop the social, emotional and communication skills, such as emotional awareness and regulation, speaking and listening skills, which will allow them to become well round members of society. Students will gain a deeper understanding of not only themselves but also the world around them identifying and respecting similarities and differences in themselves and others.
The curriculum will educate students of how to live safe and healthy lives, and the impact it can have on social, emotional, mental and physical health. When students leave they will have the self-belief, direction and tools required to achieve in education, enter employment, become valued members of society and live rewarding lives.
